My Guide for Survival on the Interwebs

I've seen a few of these floating around, and I figured it would be fun to make one myself. So here it is

Jacob's Guide to Surviving the Interwebs
1. It is impossible to un-see something.
This seems like an unusual thing to point out first, but I believe that it is the most important. Many times my curiosity has taken over when I see a reference to something, and I blindly google it, only to find myself scarred for life. If you see a reference to somthing you don't understand, ALWAYS run it through urbandictionary.com first. Don't say you weren't warned.
2. Don't trust anything anyone says.
No, not even me. People on the internet can say whatever they want and no-one can correct them, at least not effectively. Wikipedia is a prime example of this. At my school, many teachers outright refuse to accept wikipedia as a reference. Ok, it's good on some things, but when it comes to things like chemistry or advanced maths, people who know things like that aren;t going to bother putting up a wikipedia article.

3. Prepare to be offended.
The Internet is a worldwide community, so therefore, there are thousands of people out there who you wil find insulting. Enclyclopedia Dramatica is a good example of this. As I said above, anyone can say anything behind an anonymous avatar and screen name, and everything is open ground. Race, religion, age, body type, hair colour, sex, gender and anything else you can think of.

4. Beware of Predators
I have to say it. This is actually a serious item. Never give away personal information on the interwebs. (As you can see, all I've given is my first name... and you don't know wheter that's real or not) When joining forums or games, ALWAYS use a screen name and fake avatar. There a plenty of sick people out there... don't become another tragic tale.

5. Youtube takes up more space than you think.
I've gone over my monthly limit because I was ignorant to this fact... don't fall like I did. Youtube videos are big.

6. Be cool people.
If something does offend you, don't be a tool and report it. Just because something isn't to your taste, don't ruin it for other people.

Thanks for reading. I'll post more ideas if I think of them.

Thanks for following!
